hello.

So glad you stopped by to check out the Simply Christmast Market; a market happening in Waterdown, Ontario on November 17, 2012 featuring products from both fair trade suppliers and local artisans. With space for over 40 vendors there will be something offered for everyone on your gift-buying list.

Shopping local and fair trade is just one way you can make your holiday gift purchases spread that much more joy. When shopping local a large percentage of each dollar spent stays within the community, anywhere from 45% to 80% of it. The environmental impact of shopping locally is less than purchasing products shipped from half way around the world too. Not to mention you are supporting neigbhours and those who live in our city when buying their hand crafted goods. And when purchasing certified fair trade products you can be certain that the person who crafted your purchase received a fair living wage for their labour.

So come on out on to this great community event on November 17 at the Waterdown Legion between 10:30 and 4:30 to check out all the vendors and find those perfect gifts for everyone on your list. Admission is free but we will be doing a canned good food drive for the Flambourough Food Bank, so bring a canned good if you remember. There will be free Christmas beverages to sip on while browsing the vendors and if you would like to snack on something there will be Christmas treats for purchase with all those proceeds going towards Impact Uganda, an initiative that helps children, pastors, and refugee women in Uganda.

Come back soon to see updates leading up to the event. Starting in early November we will be profiling the different vendors who will be at the market so you can see what sort of products will be available for purchase and know the price range and whether they accept cash or credit cards at their stall.

(If you are a local artisan and sell your own goods or you sell fairly traded goods and would like to be a vendor at the Simply Christmas Market, please apply here no later than October 29, 2012.)
